Cleaning and sanitising floors in sports halls and swimming pools – IPC CT71

Sports halls and swimming pool complexes have large surfaces, heavy traffic and areas that require frequent cleaning. The client needed a professional solution that would allow the process to be mechanised, working time to be reduced and water to be recovered efficiently after washing.

The challenge

The client manages a sports complex that includes sports halls, access areas, hallways, changing rooms, circulation corridors and the surfaces around the swimming pools.

The heavy daily traffic generates different types of dirt: dust, shoe marks, dirt brought in from outside, marks specific to sports activities and residues present on the surfaces in the wet areas.

Near the pools, an additional challenge is the frequent presence of water on the floor and the need to keep the surfaces in a proper state of cleanliness.

Cleaning is carried out daily, and the high-traffic areas and those near the pools require additional interventions during operating hours.

Previously, a significant part of the operations was carried out by hand or with low-productivity equipment, which required more time and considerable physical effort from staff.

Main difficulties identified:

  • large surfaces that have to be cleaned daily;
  • heavy user traffic;
  • the presence of permanently or frequently wet areas;
  • the need for repeated interventions throughout the day;
  • limited time for cleaning between periods of activity;
  • the need for efficient water recovery after washing;
  • high effort in the case of predominantly manual cleaning;
  • the need to achieve uniform results over large areas.

What we needed to solve

For this application, the main objectives were:

  1. mechanising the cleaning of large areas;
  2. less time needed for daily operations;
  3. washing and vacuuming up the water in a single operation;
  4. less manual intervention and effort;
  5. efficient recovery of water from the floor;
  6. the ability to carry out quick interventions in high-traffic areas;
  7. integrating the equipment into the complex's cleaning and sanitising procedures.

The solution recommended by Komarom

IPC CT71

Following an analysis of the surfaces and the working conditions, the Komarom Trade Invest team recommended the IPC CT71 professional scrubber-dryer.

The model was chosen for its ability to combine the productivity needed for large areas with the manoeuvrability needed in a sports complex.

The IPC CT71 allows mechanised washing and vacuuming up of the water within the same operation, reducing the number of steps needed to clean the floors.

This feature is especially important in areas with traffic, where surfaces must be cleaned efficiently and returned to use as quickly as possible.

For the areas near the pools, efficient water recovery helps keep the floors in a proper condition after the cleaning process.

The equipment can be used to maintain the sports halls, hallways, corridors, access areas and other compatible surfaces within the complex.

Depending on the type of floor and the sanitising procedure set by the client, the equipment configuration, the brushes/pads and the cleaning solutions can be adapted to the application.

Before implementation, it was possible to test the equipment in real conditions to check the result and choose the right configuration.

Implementation

The implementation process:

  1. Needs analysis
  2. IPC CT71 recommendation
  3. Demonstration/Testing
  4. Configuration
  5. Delivery
  6. Training
  7. Support

In the first stage, the Komarom team analysed the surfaces, the floor types, the level of soiling, the frequency of interventions and the particular features of the wet areas.

Based on this information, the IPC CT71 was recommended and the accessories and configuration suited to the application were determined.

Testing made it possible to evaluate the equipment in the real conditions in which it was to be used.

After delivery, the staff responsible were trained in correct use, daily operation, cleaning the equipment after use and routine maintenance operations.

Komarom subsequently provides technical support, consumables, spare parts and dedicated servicing.

The results

Introducing the IPC CT71 made it possible to mechanise cleaning operations on the complex's large areas and to simplify the staff's daily work.

Main results:

  • less time needed to clean large surfaces;
  • a larger area that can be covered by the same operator;
  • fewer operations carried out by hand;
  • reduced physical effort for staff;
  • washing and vacuuming in a single operation;
  • efficient water recovery after the cleaning process;
  • uniform results over large areas;
  • faster interventions in high-traffic areas;
  • the ability to quickly return the cleaned areas to users.

In areas that require sanitising or disinfection according to specific procedures, the IPC CT71 can be integrated into the process set by the client, together with the appropriate products and procedures.

Testimonial

“The IPC CT71 has helped us make the daily cleaning of our sports halls, hallways and swimming pool areas more efficient. The machine is high-performing, easy to use and lets us clean large surfaces in less time, efficiently recovering the water in the same operation. As a result, we have reduced staff effort and can get the spaces ready for users more quickly. Our collaboration with the Komarom team has been excellent, from choosing the right solution and testing the machine through to delivery, operator training and the technical support provided. We are satisfied with the results achieved and with the machine’s efficiency in our daily work.”
